The excellent program AUTOMENU.COM has been changed slightly to allow the
creation of a program called AUTOBACK.COM. It uses DOS commands to use the
program backup.com to back up files from a hard disk to disk drive A:.
To use it you will need to change the name of backup.com to dobackup.com and
you also need to provide the path to allow access to all of your directories.
You will need to read the DOS manual on how to set up your path if you have
not already done so. It also uses a public domain program "superdirectory"
named sd.com and is included in the library. I would suggest that you spend
some time to organize your files on the hard disk. I use Norton utilities to
alphabetize the directories and run a check on the hard disk using disktest
prior to doing a backup. Be sure to erase all of the *.bak files.
Be sure when you are doing a backup that you have enough floppies formatted.
My disk requires 22 floppies to backup the entire disk. If you don't have
them formatted ahead of time, you must leave the program by hitting control c
and then start again.
I would also suggest that you backup your data disks daily on separate
floppies, as I have encountered a bug in either backup or restore that will
not allow you to replace your backup files on the hard disk. The backup files
are will not allow you to access them any other way that I know of.
I hope this program will be of help to you.
